PictureLed Headlights
The technology used in automotive industry has evolved by leaps and bounds and along with it that of the ubiquitous headlights. LED Headlights are being increasingly used, primarily because of their low power consumption compared to other headlights.

Another reason for their increasing use is that LED headlights are highly compact in size and extremely flexible, which makes itpossible to produce custom headlights of varying shapes and assemblies to fit different model requirements.

LEDs made their appearance for the first time in 2004, however the first car model equipped with full LED headlamps was the AudiR8.

Light Emitting Diodes, also known as LED’s generate greater and brighter light with lesser heat than conventional headlamps. They are also highly responsive with instant switch-on and consume lesser power. LED’s are also increasingly used as a styling tool to give a vehicle a distinctive high tech look with custom headlights.

LED headlights have some distinctive features, the key ones being

LED Headlights provide some very basic benefits to business, the most important ones include
Superior Performance

·         Advancement in LED technology has made it possible to create an optimized beam pattern to minimize glare and maximize visibility.

·         Also, since LED headlights generate less heat, the temperature in the car remains comparatively cooler enhancing safety and driver alertness.

Lower maintenance and operating costs

  • Since LED technology is a solid state technology, there is no cost involved with replacing breakable bulbs, fragile filaments, or sensitive electrodes generally associated with traditional headlights. They are totally impervious to physical shock and vibration; chances are that you might never have to replace another bulb again, leading to significant saving of time and money.
  • LED headlights are extremely long lasting. In general, they last 50 times longer than halogen and 300 times longer than incandescent lights.
  • LED Headlights are more energy efficient, consuming on an average 80+ Lumens per watt, as compared to 10-30 Lumens per watt consumption of traditional headlights.
Stylized custom headlights

Their extreme compactness ,they can be manufactured as small as only one square millimeter in size makes it possible to create an infinite range of shapes and arrangements to give each vehicle a distinctive and eye catching look.

LED headlights arecurrently offered mostly on high end luxury cars. Their bulbs are much more expensive to manufacture and usually involve replacement of entire lamp assembly in case of bulb failure, making it a very expensive proposition.

There is every possibility that technological advancements will soon make it possible to manufacture LED Headlights in a more cost efficient manner leading to a virtual line up of stylishly designed vehicles available at all price points.
